LET'S HELP ICHA!

On the morning of Christmas Eve, PREORDER66's Ichabod (Joe Wedeman) suffered a car crash. While he made it out physically fine (thank God!), his car is wrecked, and Joe has no financial means to replace it. As you've heard on the show, Joe lost his job recently and has been trying to get back in the work force. Having no car or means of transportation puts him at a great disadvantage. Insurance won't cover the damages, and Joe still owes $2800 on a now destroyed vehicle. Joe needs funds to buy a low-end used car to get him back on his feet. All money raised will go directly to the purchase of the new vehicle. Joe has always selflessly been there for his friends in time of crisis. It's our turn to be there for him. Please consider helping Ichabod this holiday season.

You can make a kind donation here.

Thank you!

Sideshow Exclusive Deadpool Premium Format Figure Review

Historically I have never been much of a statue guy, and the same seems to go with most of the Preorder66 cast. Once in a great while a piece comes along that transcends your own personal collecting style and expectations that you feel you just have to get in on, even if it doesn't really mesh with what you collect. This year one of those moments happened for me in the form of the Deadpool Premium Format Figure from Sideshow Collectibles.

TFCon: In Which We Endeavor To Avoid Scurvy

Conventions are an interesting departure from reality. We are men, and as such we are poor at maintaining our focus on health and wellness. Booze, cigars, sleep deprivation- these are the things that define us, the things that our loved ones back home pray we avoid.

I'm sorry, but this is who we are, this is what we want to be and now we have gathered in large numbers. Don't worry, we got limes. The robots will be safe from scurvy.

PACIFIC RIM HELPED ME FORGET ABOUT THE STUPID PEOPLE AT WORK: TheJackSack™ Movie Review

Look at me. Hey, I'm talking to YOU! You fucking see PACIFIC RIM yet? No? Alright (clenches fist) ... fix that right the fuck now.
Bro66 Screening of PACIFIC FUCKING RIM ©2013 Tekcorps (aka Sprocket)
As for the rest of you, the good citizens who organized your lives properly to see this film within the last few days, I thank you. You have all reaffirmed my faith in humanity. Not because you love good cinema, nor for the fact that you care about the kaiju genre. These are all important things, no doubt, and I do not wish to sweep them aside here. However, there's a more important factor underlying your willingness to "cancel the Apocalypse." You have all rejected the pile of smoldering trash that is Adam Sandler and his film GROWN UPS 2. Not everyone in my office is as virtuous as you good ladies and lads.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH GOD!!!! Why do you challenge my soul with these... (Daniel Plainview vein-pulsing forehead).... people? I sit here in my office and with my door closed I can hear the muffled stupidity of co-workers droning on about their weekends. "How was your weekend?" "Oh, it's so hot out!" "I like mashed potatoes." "Oh thank you, I just got it cut." "I just saw Grown Ups 2! I LOVED IT!" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH NONONONONONONONO!!!!!

My Journey Into The World of Transformers Comics

For many many months, my friends on this show have been telling me (gently, because who am I to listen to anyone, right?) to check out some of IDW's Transformers comics. The first series they suggested was "Last Stand of the Wreckers" which I gave a preliminary read last year. Without enough context, I didn't get far in my first attempt. I could tell the book was good, however, I wasn't "in the mood" for a good book, apparently.

Flash-forward to last weekend. A hot, miserable string of days forced me to stay indoors. I got a little stir crazy, I felt the need to distract myself with something new. Bring forth the comics! This time, I asked some of you on Twitter to steer me in the right direction. All of you bastages agreed on one single title- "More Than Meets The Eye" ("MTMTE"). When the heck do you guys agree on anything unanimously?

So, into the world of James Roberts' loving treatment of the Transformers I went, and I'm completely going to re-read all of these issues again and again. My single biggest reaction to MTMTE was an absence of something I've run into with past TF books- that it wasn't trying too hard.  The book breezily switches between comedy, politics, distinct character work, forbidden romance and terror. I never doubted Transformers could be this great, I just never actually saw anyone pull it off!  I feel like this is Francis Ford Coppola's "Transformers" taking place- operatic but extremely intimate. I kiss your pinky ring, James Roberts! I kiss it like Rewind kisses Chromedome in his dreams!

After plowing through MTMTE, I went back to "Last Stand of the Wreckers" and this time I had no problems getting through the 5 issue mini-series. In fact, to anyone who hasn't read any of these books, I recommend starting with MTMTE and then go back to read "Last Stand"- Roberts plays a lot with flashbacks in MTMTE anyway, and the political backstory of Cybertron is fully fleshed out in MTMTE, where it is lightly referenced in "Last Stand"- making MTMTE the better foundation for the backstory in my opinion.

My favorite character from MTMTE? Geez, not an easy call. I love Tailgate and Whirl because they're the most "off" of the group. Cyclonus is fantastic too- the most morally consistent of all the characters, ironically.  I'm sure other characters will take over my top spot as this book develops. When I see James Roberts at TFCon, I'm buying him something alcohol-related.

Grazie, Don Roberts.

ANIMAL CROSSING 66 - HIGH-END GAME FASHION

Nintendo's Animal Crossing: New Leaf has been receiving quite a bit of (deserved) love on the show lately, originally sparked by Deefuzz and special guest star, Tina, engaging in an amusing chat about the franchise back on episode 39.

The 3DS title has since released, and Secretcode–Preorder66 superfan and mad genius–has created the ultimate in high-end clothing for your term as mayor.

Find out how your character can get some swag after the jump.

SSC SDCC 2013 RUMORED LIST

So @TheReigner over on twitter brought this to my attention today. While he does not appreciate this list I personally think there is some really great stuff on it. It seems like a really large list so I am curious if this is legit. If this winds up being true we are in for a huge SDCC this year! Some of the stand outs for me are the Spider-Man PF, Juggernaut PF, Apocalypse Com, a slew of new Predator LSBs with bio masks and a bunch of DC 1/6 stuff. Check out the list after the jump and let me know what you guys think. Do you think its legit? What are you excited most for from it?

Edit: 2nd list added of "possible" releases...

IT'S OKAY TO WEAR YOUR UNDERPANTS ON THE OUTSIDE: TheJackSack™ MAN OF STEEL Movie Review

WARNING: FULL-BLOWN SPOILERS.

MAN OF STEEL is an alien invasion story.  The film has a tragic underlying theme about a once glorious species that literally crumbled under its own ambition in a desperate move to preserve a failed way of life. Without a planet of their own, these aliens make Earth the setting for an internal conflict between two factions: where one man courageously rejects his people's plans to revive their species.  If you took the red S off of that one guy's chest, it might even be a better film because there would be no messing with the fundamentals of the iconic character of Superman.

HOT TOYS AGENT PHIL COULSON REVIEW

I would say I have been a fan of Agent Coulson since sitting in the theater for the first Iron Man flick introducing the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the organization called S.H.I.E.L.D. Little did I know at the time what kind of role Agent Coulson would play going forward, and that I would eventually have my own 1/6 scale figure of him that I would be doing a review on. I did come to realize after each time we saw him appear on screen in subsequent movies that he is the glue that holds the Marvel Cinematic Universe together, which is a concept that becomes even more evident in the Mavel's The Avengers film.

I recall hearing that Joss Whedon would be helming the Avenger's film project and thinking "Man it is really going to suck when he kills off Coulson in the movie" because I know what a bastard Joss Whedon can be when it comes to characters like our dear Agent Phil. (Oh yeah, spoilers for those who haven't yet seen The Avengers) Coulson may be gone (he's not, look at the trailer for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show coming soon) but he is certainly not forgotten as Hot Toys has chosen to immortalize the character in 1/6 glory with their MMS 189 release: The Avengers: Agent Phil Coulson figure.
